Chris Reid is an internationally respected NH artist known for her landscapes and still life paintings. Her work is noted for its intense color and masterful use of light. Art New England describes Reid’s work a being “rich in color” and her landscapes have been praised for their “powerful abstract elements.” Reid has been the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including: the “Best in Show” from the National Northeast Pastel Exhibition, the “Jack Richeson & Company Award V” at the Connecticut Pastel Society’s 34th Annual Member’s Exhibit, the “Lovely Lines Award” at the Pastel Societies of NH and VTs joint show, the “Pastel Journal Award” from Maine’s 7th Annual International Juried Exhibit, the “Dick Blick Award” from the 4th Annual Northeast Pastel Exhibition, and the ”Artist Clean Air Award,” the “Passion for Pastels Award”, the “People’s Choice Award,” the “Mary Costigan Award for Excellence in Still Life Award,” and the “Seacoast Pastel Painters Award” from the Pastel Society of New Hampshire’s Member’s exhibitions, among many others.
Reid holds a B.S. in Art Education from SUNY College in Buffalo and trained at the University of Siena (Italy), the American School of Crafts, the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY) and NY State Colleges at Brockport and Buffalo. Shei s a juried artist of the NH Art Association, a juried associate of the Pastel Society of America, a member of the Pastel Society of NH, the Connecticut Pastel Society, the Central Mass Pastel Society, Monadnock art/FDAC, a juried member of the Sharon Arts Center (Peterborough, NH). Reid was an instructor at the NH Institute of Art in Manchester, NH from 2002-2007, a faculty member at the Sharon Arts Center an teaches private classes.
Reid can often be seen working en plein aire capturing the rich fields, meadows, and farmlands of NH. Reid’s work can be found in galleries across New England and in homes around the world.
