I have always been artsy/crafty and used my creative side. I took a few painting lessons in the 80’s. However I had a young active family, a full time teaching position and no designated space to paint. So, my creativity was channeled into my teaching.
Once I retired, I became very involved with grandchildren, travel, gardening and remodeling projects. When the pandemic arrived, I looked for online art classes. Facebook pop ups were frequent. One in particular piqued my interest and I signed up for the webinar. I knew immediately this was the style I wanted to pursue. I had found a solution to the isolation of Covid. I would be able to keep my mind and creative spirit alive!
That was a little over 2 years ago. Although this is a new passion I am fully vested in learning improving, and experimenting with palette knife painting. I love the texture, the complexity of color, and layers of paint – the endless possibilities of landscape series. I am still surprised when that moment in the painting process arrives and what I envisioned is before me. I am still amazed that I was the artist! I would describe my style as textured Contemporary Impressionism.
