Description
Can’t draw a straight line? Come to my class and learn how to express your individuality. You will complete a painting based on your reference photo, no matter what the style. All levels welcome. You might want to design a painting that can be printed as a holiday card. I am willing to share all that I know during a relaxing and fun afternoon. This class can be ongoing with this instructor and can be joined at any time.
Supplies:
Canvas: (you decide size depending on what you want to paint) 9 x 12 or 11 x 14 are good sizes.
Photograph or picture – each person will work from their own reference picture. Make sure the subject matter fits your own level of experience. I will be doing occasional demos.
Brushes: acrylic or any synthetic brushes you have on hand. I prefer flat or round brushes. Each brand has it’s own numbering system so I cant give you sizes to get. Don’t buy tiny brushes as a script or liner brush will do just as well. I use 1/2 ” and 1″ synthetic brushes. Bristle Oil brushes don’t work well with acrylics.
Paints: white, black, cobalt blue, cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, sap green (medium green from Golden), yellow ochre, burnt sienna, cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow medium, Payne’s grey, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, burnt umber, teal
Palette: there are inexpensive palettes or disposable palette sheets in pads. I have been known to use freezer meat trays or wax lined paper plates.
Practice pad or inexpensive 5X7 or 8×10 canvas boards. You can get these in packs.
Small note book: This is useful to make notes regarding the painting you are working on or making any notes on instruction or demo I may give. Despite what you might think, you will NOT remember the colors you used from week to week.
Rag and/or paper towels
water container
pencil for sketching your painting (preferably watercolor pencils)
fine sandpaper
graphite paper or tracing paper
