Description
In this class, we will learn what makes a good painting as defined through composition, color theory, and technique. This class is for all levels and for acrylics or oils. There will be a demonstration at the beginning of each class and then each student will work on their own individual ideas in their choice of acrylic or oil paints with support from the instructor.
Acrylic Supplies:
Paints: Golden: Primary Yellow, Primary Magenta, Pthalo Blue Green Shade, Dioxizine Purple, Pthalo Green Blue Shade, Cadmium Orange, and White.
Canvas or canvas boards – no larger than 11X14 or 14×14 to start with
Matte medium
Wet Palette
Acrylic Retarder
Variety of brush sizes and shapes: flat, round, bright, and fan
Oil Supplies:
Paints: Winsor & Newton: Cadmium Lemon, Permanent Rose, Phthalo Blue, Dioxizine Purple, Viridian Hue, Cadmium Orange, Titanium White.
OR Gamblin: Cadmium Yellow Light or Hansa Yellow Light, Quinacridone Red, Phthalo Blue, Phthalo Green, Cadmium Orange, Dioxizine Purple, Titanium White.
Canvas or canvas boards no larger than 11×14 or 14×14 to start with
Walnut Oil
Gamsol in a leak-proof container
Palette
Variety of brush sizes and shapes: flat, round, bright, and fan
Viva paper towels
Palette knife
Shallow box or some other container for traveling with your wet painting
